RESUMEN
Se evaluó comparativamente el Agar sangre de carnero y el Agar sangre humana, en el aislamiento de Streptococcus beta hemolíticos de pacientes del hospital Almanzor Aguinaga Asenjo de Chiclayo entreEnero y Diciembre del 2006. La investigación se realizó con 242 muestras de pacientes con faringitis, cada muestra fué sembrada en tres placas con Agar sangre humana y en tres placas con Agar sangre de carnero. Las placas de ambos medios fueron distribuidas para ser incubadas paralelamente en tres atmósferas diferentes, en aerobiosis, con 5% de CO2 y en anaerobiosis. A las colonias macroscópica ymicroscópicamente compatibles con el género Streptococcus se les realizó la prueba de la catalasa, y se las cultivó en caldo Todd-Hewitt. Los aislamientos se identificaron como Streptococcus beta hemolíticos por el método de Precipitación de Lancefield, mediante sueros de agrupamiento de especificidad conocida. La evaluación comparativa de los medios de cultivo utilizados demostró, que el Agar sangrehumana permite el aislamiento de Streptococcus beta hemolíticos al igual que el Agar sangre de carnero, puesto que no se encontró una diferencia significativa en la frecuencia de aislamiento entre ambos medios de cultivo. Así mismo se encontró que la incubación anaeróbica permite el mayor número de aislamientos de Streptococcus beta hemolíticos tanto en el Agar sangre humana como en el Agarsangre de carnero. También se determinó que la incubación por 48 horas permite el mayor número de aislamientos en ambos medios. ABSTRACT
It were evaluated comparatively sheep blood agar and human blood agar, in the isolation of beta hemolytic Streptococcus of patients from Almanzor Aguinaga Asenjo fromChiclayo between January and December of 2006. The investigation was realized with 242 samples of patients with pharyngitis, every sample was scattered in three plates with human blood agar and in three plates with sheep blood agar. The plates with both mediums were distributed to be incubated paralelaly in three different atmospheres: in aerobiosis, with 5% of CO2 and in anaerobiosis. The macroscopicand microscopically colonies compatible with Streptococcus genus it was realized the catalasa test, and them it was cultivated in Todd – Hewitt broth. The isolations were identified as beta hemolytic Streptococcus by the Lancefield Precipitation method, using specificity well known group serum. The comparative evaluation of the used culture mediums demonstrate that, human blood agar allow theisolation of beta hemolytic Streptococcus as well as sheep blood agar; although it does not find a significantly difference in the frequency of isolation between both culture mediums. It was found also that the anaerobic incubation allows a high number of isolations of beta hemolytic Streptococcus as well as in human blood agar and sheep blood agar. It was determined also that the incubation by 48hours allows a high number of isolations in both mediums. Key words: Beta hemolytic Streptococcus, Human blood agar, Sheep blood agar.
