“King of the gods”
INTRODUCTION
Zeus belongs to the second generation of Gods, he was the lord and master of all Mount Olympus (meaning "The luminous" and is the highest mountain inGreece). He governs establishing the order, the justice and the fate of the Universe. It is also the "God of the sky and the thunder", his name means "Father of Gods and the men", his power is unlimitedand terribly punished who revealed against him. Zeus was the youngest son of the Titans; Cronus (God of human time or ages and "King of the Titans") and Rhea (known as “the mother of Gods”), the Titanswere gigantic beings representing the elementary forces of nature.
BIRTH
Legend has that Cronus devoured his own children, since his own parents revealed to him that he was destined to beovercome by his own son as he had overthrown his own father. When Zeus was about to be born, Rhea sought Gaia to create a plan to save him, so that Cronus would get his retribution for his acts against hisfather and his own children. Rhea hide on Crete Island where she gave birth to Zeus, handing Cronus a rock wrapped in diapers for him to swallow as he had done with his other children’s: Poseidon (Godof the sea), Hades (King of the underworld), Hestia (Goddess of the hearth), Demeter (Goddess of the earth) and Hera (Queen of the gods and goddess of marriage).
INFANCY
Rhea hid Zeus in a cave inCrete, in the entrance she placed the Kouretes (Soldiers that danced to the rhythm of tambourines, horns, flutes and plates) so Cronus would not hear the baby´s cry. He was raised by a got namedAmalthea (her name means "tender goddess") to fed the boy with her milk. When Zeus was no longer a baby, the goat broke one of her horns, filled it with flowers and fruits and carried it to Zeus, who wentamong the stars along with the goat, becoming the first Unicorn, the horn has since then called Cornucopia or Horn of the Abundance, promising him that it would provide him abundance in everything...
