Zimbabwe: Mugabe dictatorship (main facts)
Independence: the rival African working for the black majority rule in white controlled and formed a coalition. That´s why begin the war, from1972 and 1978 Rhodesia, Zambia and Zimbabwe fight for many problems, the violence increases in both sides but in 1978 attacked Rhodesia and they sign an agreement to transfer power to theblack majority. The name changed to Zimbabwe in 1979. In 1980 the independence of this country was achieved, Robert Mugabe was the first minister and controlled the decisions of the government.The UK annexed Southern Rhodesia from the South Africa Company in 1923. The constitution was written that favored whites in power in 1961. In 1965 the government declared itsindependence but there were a problem because the UK didn´t recognize the act.
A guerilla attacked the government and the elections in 1979 were free and the people could choose her president. Theinstitution that supports that was the ONU, because this institution see for the rights of the people. In 1980 finally the country separated and obtained the name of Zimbabwe. Since theindependence Robert Mugabe was the first minister and he dominated the political system
Economic: Zimbabwe had difficult problems in the economy, the violence and the dissatisfaction of thepopulations were one of the consequences of the government land program and that provokes that the trade has been damage. Zimbabwe is an importer of products. In 2009 the bank printed money butit provokes hyperinflation. In 2009 began a new period and it increases in the economic aspect, they eliminated the Zimbabwe dollar.
