A little twist in her life

 I can't remember what happened to the smallest detail, or what he exactly said to him, but I do know that conversation changed her. 
 We were sitting in the black andgrey lined sofa at home, just my husband and me. The entire house was in silence, in peace. We could only hear the chirping of birds. We were eating croissants. I eat the crusty ends, and my husband therest of it. Suddenly I heard some noise coming from the front door. It was Cristina and her family; they had come for lunch as they did every Saturday. After a few seconds we realized that the arrivalwas being too noisy and rude. Lourdes and Cristina where quarreling again. This had been happening for the last three months, and couldn't keep on. I could see and feel the sadness in my husband'seyes at that moment they quickly crystallized. We had to do something we could not go on ignoring these situations.
"Talk to her please she will understand, you are good at talking, she'll realize...""You're right. As soon as she comes down for lunch, I'll talk to her." Lourdes had rushed to a bedroom when Cristina ordered her to stop "course I'll talk to her she's mature enough to understand."
 Wewere still having the croissants when she finally came down and sat just opposite us. I got up and went to the kitchen so as to have everything ready for lunch; when my grand children come I likehaving things settled. Right I must admit, I wanted them to have some privacy to talk. 
 My heart was beating quicker and quicker.  What was he telling her? How would she react? These questions didn'tstop echoing in my head. I tried and ducked my head behind the kitchen door. I could see them both sitting beside each other. I could not overhear them but just by seeing the eyes of my sweetgranddaughter so concentrated listening to her grandfather, I felt glad and relieved. 
 It already was lunch time. I could notice them hungry because of all the rushing. Lourdes came some minutes later. She...
