Re: Your planned visit to Peru
Introduction
I´m writing this report to suggest the historic centre of Lima as an idealplace for your group of visitors as it is located in the capital of Peru. As it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, for its originality and high concentration of historicmonuments constructed in the time of Spanish presence.
Background
The historic centre of Lima was founded by Francisco Pizarro on January 1535 and given the name City of theKings. It is called Checkerboard of square Pizarro for being the oldest and central part of the city and so maintains classic style of streets and perpendicular avenues thatform square apples homogeneous.
Attractions for your group
Lima's Cathedral, which City Fathers began building on the very day of the city's foundation; the Church and Conventof San Francisco , due to its harmony of volume and color, considered by some as the greatest architectural complex of its kind in Latin America, and Santo Domingo, with itsbeautiful main cloister, are but a few of the invaluable treasures which provide evidence of Lima's deep religious faith.
Similarly, mansions such as the House of Goyeneche or Rada,with its obvious French influences; and the Torre Tagle Palace ,the most beautiful of Lima's early 18th century mansions.
Practical information
International airlines haveflights to and from Lima airport, linking the capital of Peru with leading cities worldwide. Jorge Chavez International Airport, in the Constitutional Province of Callao, 30minutes from Lima's Historic Center, is the main point of entry to Peru's capital. For transport around the city, visitors can use public transport, buses and minibuses, or taxis
