Poem analysis
"I travelled among unknown men"
1. I travelled among unknown men,
2. In lands beyond the sea;
3. Nor, England! did I know till then
4. What love I bore to thee5. 'Tis past, that melancholy dream!
6. Nor will I quit thy shore
7. A second time; for still I seem
8. To love thee more and more.
9. Among thy mountains did I feel
10. The joy of my desire;11. And she I cherished turned her wheel
12. Beside an English fire.
13. Thy mornings showed, thy nights concealed
14. The bowers where Lucy played;
15. And thine too is the last green field
16.That Lucy's eyes surveyed.
1. basic sentence: he traveled where there are men he doesnt know
somewhat romantic if you look at it from the word "travel"
2. basic sentence: in lands that are beyondthe sea or past the sea
romantic because it has "sea" in it which is part of nature
3. hes saying in addition to the lands beyond the sea theres england also and he didnt know about it until then
4.he gives love to these places??
not sure about "bore" cause that means like a hole or something
5. he is over his gloomy dream and happy about that because of the exclamation mark
6. He says hewont quite his "shore"
something to do with water?? = nature
7. for the second time he still seems
8. he loves "thee" a lot, over and over
somewhat romantic with love, has to do with life
9. by themountains he felt
romantic because mountains are a part of nature
10. what he wanted and how he wanted it
11. he admires someone, a female, and she "turned her wheel"??
12. next to an english fireromantic because the history of fire: how it was found and dicovered and used
13. In the morning, things were revealed, and at night, things were hidden or not seen
somewhat romantic, feelsromantic to me while reading
14. bowers where lucy played and spent her time
bowers can mean a recess, private place in a castle for women, or a cottage
definately romantic if cottage: feels nature...
