1. A critical analysis on three spine stickleback spine size
a. Background Info
i. Organisms develop their phenotypic traits by adapting to itsphysical surroundings (McGuigan et al., 2010)
ii. Many species are inclined to attain morphological physical characteristics which serve as defensive mechanisms against predation in surroundingareas (Mikolajewski and Rolff, 2004)

iii. Predators serve as stressors to threespine stickleback (Gasterosteus aculeatus) fish causing them to use their pelvicstructures in quick defense (Bell et al., 1993)
iv. Geographical variation is a critical factor in determining which threespine stickleback have spines or not (Platt,2011)
c. Studiesv. It is necessary to conduct tests to observe spine sizes in different georgraphical regions.
vi. The results will allow one to examine the lake/area whether it was of high or lowpredation.
d. Hypothesis
vii. It is hypothesized that threespine stickleback (G. aculeatus) in areas of high predation have larger dorsal and pelvic spines whereas those in areas oflow predation generally have smaller spines.
2. Methods
e. The threespine stickleback (G. aculeatus) was used to examine the different sizes of it’s pelvic and dorsal spines and body length.The sample stickleback was attained from many different lakes throughout Alaska.
f. The samples were examined from Ohmer Lake, a lake known for it’s high predation. This lake was chosen forthe sole purpose of potentially supporting the hypothesized statement. There were eight lakes conducted within the whole experiment but many individuals examined one each. Four of the lakes werefrom areas of high predation while the other four came from areas of low predation.
