Abstract
This paper presents an analysis of how Pilar Sordo, Chilean psychologist, through a conference uttered in the University Austral of Valdivia with the Itaú bank sponsorship in the year 2010, shows how the differences between men and women, taking into consideration the psychologist, biological and social context, affects their daily life, referring to topics like kids, sex andhappiness.

I. Introduction

In every situation in which we are involved, we can appreciate a great variety of discourses like, politic discourses, public discourses, persuasive discourses, expositive discourses, argumentative discourses, etc. – In this case we chose the speech is a persuasive speech, since in this conference she tries to seduce the audience with an excerpt from various issues ofsociety, especially in the difference of the feminine and masculine, which are presented in the book to promote your product, having a humorous attitude with the aim of making people laugh while creating a warm atmosphere with her audience.
The aims of our analysis is to show the difference between male and female roles in society, how these identities are repeating patterns in time, and arereflected in the examples proposed by Pilar Sordo, as these roles are changing through the current generation. She also emphasizes other factors that affect these roles such as: changes in values, family relationships, gender changes in adolescents and emotional relationships.
Our hypothesis is that expressed by Pilar Sordo at the conference, is real because it is based on a study by the psychologistto support and substantiate his book “Viva la Diferencia”, which introduces the roles implemented in Chilean society.
The term discourse analysis was first introduced by Zellig Harris in 1952, as a way of analyzing connected speech and written. Harris has two main interests: the examination of the language beyond the level of the sentence and the relationship between linguistic andnon-linguistic behavior.
In nowadays the definition of discourse analysis has been updated and Brian Paltridge in 2008 presented a great definition of it.
Discourse analysis focuses on knowledge about language beyond the word, clause, phrase and sentence that is needed for successful communication. It looks at patterns of language across texts and considers the relationship between language and the socialand cultural contexts in which it is used. Discourse analysis also considers the ways that the use of language presents different views of the world and different understandings. It examines how the use of language is influence by relationships between participants as well as the effects the use of language has upon social relationships. It also considers how views of the world, and identities, areconstructed through the use of discourse. Discourse analysis examines both spoken and written texts.
This analysis is about on female and male’s roles in Chilean society so our investigation its based on the anaylisis of Paltridge’s framework which said that language is influenced by the relationship between the users and also how the social identities affects their speech in addition Paltridgeprovide a deeper understanding and appreciation of texts and how they become meaningful to their users.

Also we are going to use some points from gee’s framework which are based on social identities and how people do gender in social and cultural contexts, there are some factors that are very important in a discourse not only the way we speak is important, but also the way we dress, thegestures that we use and the way we interact helps to build our social identity.

Finally we also are going to analyze from the point of view of Lakoff who proposed women and man’s language. In our analysis we our going to analyze the author’ speech who is a woman and who present some generalization about women’s language.
