André Derain
André Derain is considered the best painters in the whole France by many people, today he is seen as one of the mostdedicated artist in the modern abstract art although his work passed through many styles from the Fauvism (The wild beasts) all the way to the cubism he was mainly considered an abstract and fauvalpainters.
Andre Derain was born in the 10 of June of 1880 on Chatou, an artist colony of at the Gates of Paris. His father was a successful pastry chef and a town councillor he gave Derain a middleclass education, from him the school was one of the worst experiences in his whole life but he had started showing his talent at drawing.
In 1898 he studied in the Academy Carrière where he met HenryMatisse. In the 1900s he studied in an art school and set up a studio with Maurice Vlaminck. In the year 1901 his artistic life was interrupted by the military service until 1904 when he dedicated onlyto his art in this time he experimented the impressionism, diversionism, and many other technique and applied them to his work . On the following year, 1905, was very important for him. The dealerAmbroise Vollard, to whom he had been introduced by Matisse, bought the entire contents of his studio. Derain exhibited more of his art work at the Salon des Indépendants.
He was driven to the Fauvism byMatisse. Derain and Matisse worked together through 1905 their work was displaced in the Salon d Automne, Their painting expressed strong colored realistic and vivid pictures which attracted thecritic of Louis Vauxcelles who described this Works as les Fauves (As commented before The Wild Beasts) this started the fauvle movement in 1905 until 1908.
