Monsanto and its side effects
The Monsanto Company is a multinational agricultural biotechnology company that produces genetically engineeredseeds. Monsanto is a controversial company because many people are opposed to it such as environmental activists and others. Some other people are in favor of Monsanto because they believe they areproducing and conserving more. Monsanto produces genetically modified seeds, terminator technologies, a milk name rGBH and many other products.
Monsanto has a brand of herbicides named RoundupReady. Its main ingredient is glyphosate. Roundup has been the best selling herbicide since 1980. Roundup was never submitted to testing by the EPA. Glyphosate has been classified as a highly toxicchemic for oral and inhalation exposure. Laboratories have report teratogenic effects of the Roundup on animals. Roundup has a high toxic level and it may be dangerous to human beings. Some laboratieshave proved it causes cancer, teratogenic problems, and genetic damage.
Monsanto produce genetically modified seeds that are made of unknown ingredients. Studies have proven that the genesinserted in them were responsible for many different damages. Monsanto’s seeds have been tested with rats and it was proven that the genetically engineering has caused many different damages to rats. In2007, Monsanto acquired a new technology named “terminators”. Terminator technology causes plants to have sterile seed that will never reproduce. Clearly terminator technology is not a good thing for ourenvironment.
Monsanto produces genetically engineered milk named rBGH (recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone). A synthetic hormone injects cows in order to increase its milk production. IGF-1that is the hormone that is injected to cows produces a cancer accelerator to humans and animals. This hormone is proven to cause breast cancer, prostate cancer, lung cancer, and colon cancer.
