DESCRIPCION:
INGLES: The aye-aye (Daubentonia madagascariensis) is a lemur, a strepsirrhine primate native to Madagascar that combines rodent-like teeth and a special thin middle finger tofill the same ecological niche as a woodpecker. It is the world's largest nocturnal primate.

ISCHARACTERIZED:
INGLES: By its unusual method of finding food; it taps on trees to find grubs, then gnaws holes in the wood using its forward slanting incisors to create a small hole in which it inserts itsnarrow middle finger to pull the grubs out. The only other animal species known to find food in this way is the striped possum. From an ecological point of view the aye-aye fills the niche of awoodpecker, as it is capable of penetrating wood to extract the invertebrates within.
ESPAÑOL: Mediante su método inusual de encontrar comida estos golpean en los árboles para encontrar gusanos, entonces roelos agujeros en la madera con sus incisivos hacia adelante inclinadas para crear un pequeño agujero en el que se inserta su dedo medio estrecha para sacar a las larvas a cabo. Las únicas especiesconocidas para encontrar el alimento de esta manera es la zarigüeya rayas. Desde el punto de vista ecológico, el aye-aye llena el nicho de un pájaro carpintero, ya que es capaz de penetrar en la maderapara extraer los invertebrados en su interior.
