Capital Punishment

Beyond all the article presentations, I will turn my attention to the article about capital punishment as Ifind that we had an interesting debate on this topic.
First of all we discussed the economical impact that capital punishment has on the United States,as it is much more expensive than life incarceration. In my opinion this means that we should give more life sentences than executions. In fact the DeathPenalty Information Centre noticed a drop of the executions in 2009 in comparison to the executions in 2000. But this is not only due to the costs of theexecution but also to the scarcity of the drugs used in lethal injections. Furthermore, in Europe the execution is forbidden and as Europe has the mostmanufacturers of the drug she is against the use of it for execution.
When we debated on the utility of capital punishment, the majority of the classpointed out that if, for example, a person killed someone and the murder was punishable by execution, it would be too easy for the murderer to just beexecuted and not punished with life imprisonment, which would mean think about what he did for a whole life and live with regrets. I agree with this butnowadays the life imprisonment does not actually last for your whole life as you can be freed for good behaviour and other reasons. This would mean that amurderer, supposed to be executed or incarcerated for his whole life, could possibly, one day, be free as you and I are, even if he killed someone.
