In 1570 the Spanish Joseph da Acosta, he became a novice in the society of Jesus, and traveled to the Peru. European explorations between 1500 and 1700 brought major changes toAsia, Africa and the Americas.
The Columbian exchange is called “Columbian” because of Christopher Columbus not for the country of Columbia which is in South America.
Christopher Columbus was thefirst one that brought to Spain plants and animals that he had founded on the undiscovered lands of America.
Christopher Columbus was an explorer, colonizer and navigator, born in the Republic ofGenoa, which today is the Italy. He completed four voyages across the Atlantic Ocean that lead to European awareness of the American continents in the Western Hemisphere. This voyages initiated the processof Spanish colonization of the “New World”.
Thanking Christopher Columbus Europeans had new foods and impact on population. Christopher Columbus and his crew brought to Europe a variety of foods,like tomatoes, pumpkins, peppers and of course corn and potato which are the most and easy to grow in the Americas and any other land.
As well corn, spread all across Europe, Africa and Asia. Alsothey carried a wide variety of plants and animals but to the Americas, also wheat and grapes, bananas, sugar can, cattle, pigs, goats, chickens, that they weren´t known to the Native Americans and itadded protein for Native Americans diet. Also Europeans brought horses and donkeys to America that also changes Native Americans life because they gave an easier form of hunting their food such asbuffalo.
This transfer of food crops from land to land took many time it wasn´t just in one or two months like now a days that you can send and receive things in just a couple of days and withoutdifficulty like Europeans in that century.
