Charles Robert Darwin

-Date and place of birth: February 12, 1809 in Shrewsbury, Shropshire (England).
-Date and place of death:April 19, 1882 at Down House, Downe, Kent (England).
-Biographical:
*Education: In 1825 he began studying medicine in Edinburgh to continue the familytradition; he left in 1827 to join Cambridge and studied as a priest, although this was not his vocation. But he had the opportunity to attend interesting scientificspeeches that really motivated him, and took the opportunity to meet important people in the world of science, as the geologist Adam Sedgwick who taught him to applya scientific methodology in the analysis of the facts and the naturalist John Stevens Henslow (professor of Botany) who he learned to take data from theirobservations and collect samples in detail. At age 22, he won the post of unpaid naturalist on the Beagle ship, which began a scientific expedition around the world.*Historical Period: Victorian age.
* Scientific Relevance: Darwin in 1838 had already outlined his theory of evolution, but he decided to postpone and continuehis development. Until in 1858 he received a letter from naturalist Alfred Russel Wallace, who changed his mind about publishing the notes taken during his trip inseveral books. The importance of the "Origin of Species" in modern biology has overshadowed the rest of Darwin's work and not make it any less important orextensive. Once he completed his masterpiece, he continued to write methodically delving into evolution.
