CLIMATE CHANGE
Climate change is one of the major challenges for humanity in the coming
years. Rising temperatures, melting glaciers, increasingly frequentdroughts and floods are all evidence that climate change is already started.
The stakes are huge for the planet and future generations.
Colombia is particularly vulnerable to climate change, the location ofthe
population in coastal floodplains and unstable soils in the upper parts of
the mountain ranges, and have a high frequency and magnitude of
disasters associated with climate
A new report onclimate change examines the devastating effects they have
on Africa, Asia and poor communities in coastal areas, increased by 2 ° C
and 4 ° C degrees in global temperature.
The report describes the risks toagriculture and the way of life in Africa
south of the Sahara; also an increase in sea level would cause the loss of
reef corals and the devastation of coastal areas in Asia.
The report, "Let's godown the temperature" concludes that the poorest
communities are the most vulnerable to climate change.
The European Union takes several years dedicated to this struggle, both in
Europe andinternationally, are the priorities of its program and is
reflected in its climate policy. Also integrates the control of greenhouse
gases in all areas of action to achieve the following objectives: consumecleaner energy, have means of transportation cleaner and balanced , hold
companies without compromising their competitiveness, work for regional
planning and agriculture in the service of the environmentand create a
favorable environment for research and innovation.
