England´s rich culture and traditions have become very well-known throughout the world. Being the place of origin of the English language, England has a verysignificant cultural and legal impact on the rest of the world. Additionally, the Industrial Revolution had its first home in England, first country to industrialize. It is home to the Royal Society,which laid the foundations of modern experimental science.
The English are known for their punctuality, which is almost always arrive in time.
To Drive on the Left
In the past, almost everybodyrode on the left side of the road, because that was the most sensible option for feudal societies. Since most people are right-handed, swordsmen preferred to keep to the left in order to have theirright arm nearer to an opponent and defend themselves.
Tea time
Before the introduction of tea into England, breakfast and dinner were the two meals that were commonly served. But it didn't takelong before Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, adopted the European tea service format and invited friends to join her in an afternoon meal. The menu centered around small cakes, sandwiches, assortedsweets and, of course, tea. This practice proved so popular that soon she was sending friends notes that invited them to her London home for Tea Time and a walk in the fields. Likewise, this idea wascopied by other hostesses and serving tea became a common thread for almost all families in England.
The boxing day
Boxing Day is celebrate in December 26th, so cald because on this day it was thecustomary for tradesmen to collect their Christmas boxes or gifts in return for good service throughout the year. Also, it included giving money and other gifts to charitable institutions, and the needy.The holiday may date from as early as the Middle Ages, but the exact origin is not known. It may have begun with the Lords and Ladies of England, who gave Christmas boxes/gifts to their servants...
