Don´t panic, this is a well-planned escape, but listen. I don´t have much time to tell you this, I know Nick has called the Owl to take you away. He talked to me some minutes ago to arrange a plan for you to get out of here alive and safe. I appreciate you very much, too much maybe, this is why I´m risking everything here. Don´t question what´s written in this letter, if you want tolive and see your daughter just follow the instructions and we hope everything will work out as planned.
The Fly will take you to an empty basement called the Existance, still in Gilead´s land, so be careful. This hiding spot will be in the Elephant Basement. There you´ll meet a Fox whose name shall be John. He will be dressed in black of course, to cover his identity, but he´ll have a tuliptattooed between his middle finger and the ring finger on the left hand. Look for this sign, we all have it. He will support you in every way, bring you food, company and most important of all, Elephant. In Lion we have all been blinded and the truth has been covered with the darkest sheets and you made me realize that for a better future we all have to learn to listen and to share. Anyway, Johnwill take you to the basement where you will be with Econowifes, Handmaids, Commanders, Wives, shredders, humans. When you get there, you will find a bag full of stuff I packed for you, even the Scrabble. You will have to stay there until you have the baby you´re carrying. They will take care of you in every single way you need it, like a family. The child, nevertheless will be sent after some timeto Serena and me, it is the only way she´ll stop asking about you. I will meet you every 3rd day next to the Wall, so you can tell me news, talk for a while and so I can tell you what´s next on the plan. I will not tell you anything further in this letter, it is too risky. We will never exchange cards, after you read this one; burn it. I learned not to place you or myself at risk anymore, it wassilly of me to put you through such a dangerous situation as in Jezebels or even having our Scrabble nights but I want you to understand that I took the risk because the Lion has disabled in us the ability to feel emotions and you gave me that.
You made me open my eyes and I´m hugely thankful to you. I shall never return to a routine life, I´m a free man, just as you will be; as we all should be.I remember telling you that Gilead had taken away some freedom, just to guaranteed women safety and dignity, I´m no longer a fan of that opinion. Gilead has taken away our total dignity, for example by using you as an object or even a Government tool for increasing birth-rate. You should have the same rights as the elite society, as well as we should have the same rights to choose whom we marry,the choice of freedom. You gave meaning to love to me and you should share it with the world. I saw how disappointed you were about the empty sex when we went to the hotel that night; I saw it in your eyes. If we keep oppressing the children, there will be a future where no one will resist, or even ask for freedom because oppression has become ordinary. No one will know how to read to write, whatthe feeling is not to know which clothes to wear that day or even the butterfly feeling of seeing the person you love across the street. I don´t want that future for my child or any of the others children. I felt something with you, I don´t know if it was love, but I felt something. The Lion has disabled in us the ability to feel emotions, he´s creating robots. I know neither of us want that, thatis what the Existance is for. You represent what the tulip is, you´re one of the seeds to a new future; a whole new cycle is about to begin. A new future, for all.
