at the meeting stated that:
States shall cooperate in a spirit of global partnership to conserve, protect and restore the health and integrity of theEarth's ecosystem.
- States have the sovereign right to exploit their own resources pursuant to their own environmental policies and, in turn, must ensure that activities within their jurisdiction orcontrol do not cause damage to the environment of other States or of areas beyond national jurisdiction.
- All States and all people shall cooperate in the essential task of eradicating poverty as anindispensable requirement for sustainable development.
- Special attention should be placed on the needs of developing countries, particularly the least developed and those most environmentallyvulnerable.
- States should develop a supportive and open international economic leading to growth and sustainable development of all countries, as well as national law regarding liability and compensation...
