Do you know everything about drugs to be able to make an intelligent decision when someone offers you drugs? I’m going to try to explain to you the different kinds that exist and the consequences ofconsuming them.
There are three kinds of drugs: Legal, soft and hard
Legal Substances are permitted in our country. Doctors prescribe these chemicals to alleviate medical conditions. They arenecessary for a person’s recovery from an illness or psychological condition like depression and insomnia. Other legal drugs are tabacco, alcohol and caffeine. They are also called recreational drugsbecause they are used for relaxation and recreational purposes. These drugs can cause damage if the person is addicted to them. Excess of alcohol damages the liver, smoking leads to lung cancer andcaffeine affects the nervous system.
Cannabis sativa or marihuana is considered a soft drug because it’s not physically addictive but the user can become psychologically addicted to it. In the past it wasused for its therapeutic properties. This drug is illegal in Chile because it can cause unpleasant experiences and it is the starting point to the consumption of hard drugs.
Hard drugs or “class A”drugs are the most harmful and impose the highest penalties of the law. Some of these drugs are ecstasy, heroine, cocaine and many others. These have devastating effects on the addict, his family, hisfriends and all our society. The consequences of consuming these drugs are always negative. They cause dehydration, nightmares, insomnia, reality distortion, lack of appetite, schizophrenia and manyothers sensations that nobody likes to experience. It also leads to violence, crime and even death. Drugs addict become slaves of drugs.
The most susceptible teenagers to fall into drugs are those whohave little self-esteem and affective problems, but if you think that chemicals can solve your problems you are very mistaken. Problems have to be faced in other ways. Drugs only increase the...
