Thank you very much for installing ABSYNTH 4! This synthesizer is capable of producing some of the most daring sounds. Whether you are developing a film soundtrack or “just want to make music” – ABSYNTH 4 always has the right sound in store for you. ABSYNTH 4 is a truly unique synthesizer with an unmistakable sound. This update contains the following changes: • ABSYNTH4.0.1 features a new surround effect part within its Effects Page. Also, an audio recorder has been added. Refer to the detailed manual addendum installed with this update for more information. • A special stereo version of the plug-in is installed. It targets issues arising from the new instrument tracks of Cubase 4 and some other hosts that cannot handle the surround output configuration of theABSYNTH 4 plug-in. • ABSYNTH 4.0.1 contains all ABSYNTH SOUNDS Vol. 1 as KoreSounds. • An extended Universal Library is included with this update. • The Envelope Page can be resized. • Multiple sample paths can be set within the Options dialog. • Several minor improvements and fixes are included. Getting StartedHere we will provide you with some first steps to get you up and running with ABSYNTH 4. For more detailed information and examples please check the ABSYNTH 4 manual and the separate Setup Guide. The setup procedure (discussed on this page) only applies to the standalone mode, all remaining steps are identical in both stand-alone and plug-in mode. available so that you can test the full potentialof ABSYNTH 4. Choose your output device. Most soundcards nowadays have drivers specifically written forthem. We recommend using those drivers whenever possible. Caution for PC users: A generic driver like “ASIO DirectX” or “ASIO Multimedia” will not give as good a response as a specific driver for your card. If available, choose the driver name that includes the model number or manufacturer of your soundcard or audio interface.

Computer Setup
After installing ABSYNTH 4, doubleclick on theABSYNTH 4 icon in the Application folder (Mac OS X) or click the corresponding Start menu entry (Windows XP). Upon first start you are presented with a dialog box that contains your Audio and MIDI settings. In the future, you will need to check the Audio and MIDI settings every time you install a new soundcard or MIDI device. You can access the settings from the File menu in the ABSYNTH 4 window. Also,if you should ever face the problem that there is no audio output or no MIDI input, these settings are a good place to start troubleshooting.

Full Version and Demo Version
After installation, your copy of ABSYNTH 4 needs activation with the NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Service Center. ABSYNTH 4 will run in demo mode until activation. If you already activated ABSYNTH 4 and installed an update, you don’tneed to repeat the process. When starting ABSYNTH 4 before activating it, a window will ask whether you want to do this now. • If you choose to activate your installation, the NATIVE INSTRUMENTS Service Center is launched.
