INTRODUCCION

Desde los tiempos más remotos, el género humano ha hecho uso de la fauna silvestre matando o capturando selectivamentealgunas de las especies que la integran, bien para liberarse de especies dañinas (serpientes, roedores etc.), o para utilizar su carne como alimento y sus pieles como vestido.

* La extinción de la fauna tiene graves repercusiones en los ecosistemas, sobre todo en lo referente a las cadenas tróficas y alimenticias. En la mayoría de los casos, de las especies desaparecidas no se teníasuficiente información acerca de su papel en los diferentes ecosistemas en que participaban.
