Themeeting took place in the library’s cafeteria at ITESO at 3:00 p.m.
The event was a mini conference where they talked about the damage Rio Santiago has suffered and what it is causing to the people thathave contact with the water and live near the river. They also talked about how society (acting as organizations) has reached towards the Government to help them resolve the situation, and they doabsolutely nothing.
What the meeting was all about was to communicate to all of us that this problem lives in the area we live and is growing really close to us and many of us didn’t even know muchabout it, only the obvious; besides, it is affecting the people who live near the river and it’s even causing death.

a personal reflection explaining what was most meaningful about this particular experience for the construction of your personal conception of the environment, and for your role as anenvironmental actor.
This situation with the Santiago River has gone way too far, and it should be stopped before it grows any more than it has grown to the moment. Water is the most important resourcewe have, and even being aware of it, it has all come down to stupid politics that are only giving us a free ride to destruction by allowing the industry to dump their wastes into the river. This allreduces a selfish and stupid government.
Just like that, society will continue to deteriorate our oceans, rivers, lakes and forests if we don’t start making a difference.
There are some environmentalagents such as Greenpeace and regular people like the German teacher and local people who realize the magnitude of the issue we have in front of us; they know things have to be done.
