4. What are the ironies of the final scene in the hotel room? What does the Gabriel learn about Gretta and about himself? How is Gabriel's momentself-knowledge and self-awareness prepares for earlier in the story? What are the implications of Joyce's lyrics ending? For example, what is implied by the statement that " The time had come for him toset out on his journey westward"?
-The last scene in the hotel room when Gabriel was told by his wife that she was once in love with a man named Michael, and had died at such a young age, andbasically the irony is that Michael Fury teaches Gabriel how to feel and understand the feeling of life. Through Michael Fury’s death he encounters the reality of “death” and teaches us thegift of life.

-Gabriel learns about Gretta’s past love when she was younger. He realized that she still had the impact of Michael’s death and it was definitely a meaning for her the song thatwas played during the reunion and reminded her of him. He realizes that they don’t even have a song.

-At the beginning of the story Gabriel is not really aware of the whole party he had andhis ways of thinking were clearly different from that at the end of the story. His just visualizes the warmth, light, perception and blindness of the reality that is self implored throughout theparty.

-Joyce lyrincs ending imply Gretta’s confession to Gabriel about the boy she once loved and whom had died for her. It was an event of her life that she could never erase, it was animprint that she would never leave from her mind and was an event that triggered her to tell her confession to her husband.

-The meaning of this quote literary means it was time for him tochange a path and have a self-renewal. It is a new path in life that sometimes we humans can take advantage and realize that we can change our paths and understand a different perspective of live.
