Charges, currents, and fields
GROUP A
1. Name several phenomena that depend for their occurrence upon the force between electrically charged particles.
Rta: An electrical phenomenon is when our hair is lifted by a brush that had previously been rubbed, so I approached and our hair stands up, then both parties are electric charges. Another phenomenon is the direct current, which is known asthe continuous flow of electrons through a conductor between two points of different potential.
2. Define (a) negative charge, (b) positive charge, (c) insulator, (d) conductor.
Rta: (a): The negative charge that there is overpopulation of electrons in an element. The negative is a charge that ionized electrons. these together form a current or voltage (b): the positive charge is the oneionized protons which are a key part to create electricity. (c): Insulation refers to any material that prevents transmission of energy in any form. (d): The material capable of transmitting to distance the effect of some physical phenomenon is known as conductor
3. Describe the effect upon a positively-charged pit ball, suspended by a thread, of bringing near it (a) a glass rod that has beenrubbed with silk, (b) an uncharged body.
Rta: (a): the ball will stay as far as possible from the glass rod because this is positively charged too. (b): they will try to stay together because a polarization occurred.
4. When a body of unknown charge is brought near a negatively charged electroscope, the deflection of the leaf increases. Is the body positively charged, negatively charged, orneutral? Why?
Rta: the object has a negative charge, this means that the leaves repel.
5. What is the planetary model of the atom? Illustrate it for the element helium.
Rta: the proposed model of the atom shows us the nucleus in the center, while the electrons revolve in orbits around the nucleus.
Helium atom:
6. What is the interpretation in “atomic language” of the following: (a) an atomis normally electrically neutral, (b) a certain body is negatively charged, (c) a certain body is positively charged, (d) a certain body gains an excess negative charge, (e) copper is a good conductor, (f) glass is a good insulator?
Rta: (a). it hasn´t net charge.
(b).This means that the body has electrons.
(c). it has protons.
(d).This shows that in the body there are more electrons thanprotons.
(e). yes, it is a good conductor.
(f). long as there is for each glass layer of air is a good insulator.
7. Name several ways in which a body can be given an electrical charge.
Rta: when a body is in contact with another electrical charge provides, this means that some atoms have more to lose electrons easily than another, electromagnetic induction is the production of electriccurrents by magnetic fields over time.
8. What is meant by “grounding” a charged body?
Rta: Grounding involves electrically connecting the charged body with a source or sink of electrons. The excess or deficiency of electrons is removed by contact with ground.
9. State coulomb`s law
Rta: Coulomb's law states that two electric charges experience a force of either attraction or repulsion and isstated as follows: "the magnitude of each of the electrical forces that interact with two point charges at rest, is directly proportional to the product the magnitude of both charges and inversely proportional to the square of the distance that separates "
10. How can a metal cup, placed on an insulating stand, be charged negatively by induction? Describe each step.
Rta: considering that thesupport is made of plastic, which has a negative charge, it is understood that the metal is bound to receive negative electronic charge of the plastic when it comes to insulating the metal as it is known as the driver for excellence.
11. Define one coulomb of charge.
Rta: This is defined as the amount of cargo transported in one second by a current of one ampere of electric current. Is...
