GENERAL BACKGROUND

Greg and Libby Garrett founded Orphan Helpers in 2000. Greg has spent countless hours raising money for Orphan Helpers and has traveled to Honduras nearly 35 times.  
For many years Greg Garrett was asking God to show him what was his plan and purpose for his life, "And the answer was related to the orphans", he said.Greg was searching the internet for a place to go on vacation, and was presented with a unique opportunity. Then he asked his wife Libby to join him on this trip. They traveled to Honduras and visited an orphanage of 250 children who were served by only 6 adults; there were neither bathrooms facilities nor showers. When Greg and Libby returned from their trip decided to found Orphan Helpers "LosAyudantes de los Huérfanos" (O.H.), that was later legally established in Honduras in 2006. Since then, Orphan Helpers works in two major cities in Honduras: Tegucigalpa and San Pedro Sula. The organization currently works in different programs of rehabilitation and reinsertion of teenagers and young adults who have been abandoned and at social risk, which are living in 9 government centers, cared by22 O.H.´s employees who teach, care for, and support them, finishing with a follow up of O.H. and volunteers from the community, being O.H. last goal employability.

MISSION

To serve and minister to the physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of orphaned, abused and incarcerated children by effectively partnering withindividuals, churches, businesses, organizations and governments.

To see at least one Christian standing beside every orphaned, abused and incarcerated child helping them pursue God's plan and purpose for their life.

OBJECTIVES

a. To collaborate with governmental orphanages and juvenile detention centers; focusing on serving children who have been deprived of all society services and rejected by their families, adoption agencies and orphanages.

b. Work in providing teachers and programs foryoung teens at social risk and those who have been incarcerated.

c. To develop and rely on solid relationships with individuals, churches, business, organizations and governments; making an effort to help these children discover and know the best plan for their lives.
d. Orphan Helpers channels mission teams, donated items and financial resources to orphans who are living in governmentfacilities and those young adults that have been forgotten by society.

e. To help teenagers and young adults who have been abandoned, abused, and mistreated to get out of that hostile environment, and receive spiritual formation, vocational and academic training, in order to develop these young people to be better individuals and to integrate them into society, by making them goodprofessionals and teaching them how to be self-sufficient adults and psychologically stable.
