Strategy formulation: Analytical concepts The Strategy Formulation Process Within the formulation of corporate strategy and the formulation of businessstrategy, recall that the corporate strategy concerns the question of what business the company should be in. Business strategy, meanwhile, addresses the question of how to compete in a particularbusiness. In this reading the outlines of the two analysis models are presented in terms of the main tasks that everyone must comply. The process of strategy formulation: an overview the formulation ofstrategy can be seen as a special type of problem-solving process for defining an organization's strategy. A major review of prescriptive models of strategy formulation indicates that they all involve,either explicitly or implicitly, the following seven steps.
1. Strategy identification 2. Environmental Analysis, 3. Resource analysis, 4. Gap analysis, a comparison of the organization's objectives,strategy and resources against opportunities and threats in your environment to determine. 5. Strategic alternatives, is the identification of strategic choices on which it may be a strategy for newconstruction. 6. Evaluation of the strategy is an assessment of strategic options
7. Strategic choice, over the selection of the strategic options for its implementation
The formulation of astrategy at the institutional level, and the other for the formulation of business strategy at describing the underlying processes of analysis discussed in the rest of the book. These models arerelated and are designed to be used in conjunction with the corporate model limitations and provide leadership for enterprise-level model. In particular refer to the steps of analysis to be carried out atcorporate and business level to provide inputs to the company and formulating business strategies and processes at the strategic decision making.
