Boney M.
Group of pop and dance music lab born musical producer Frank Farian who achieved fleeting fame in the finalstretch of the seventies. Its members were Bobby Farrell (1949), with its distinctive deep voice, throaty, Maizie Williams and Young (1951), Marcia Barrett (1948) and Liz Mitchell (1952). Although thefour were of Caribbean origin, the group was assembled in the country of its producer, Germany.

With an unmistakable style disc, Boney M. launched in 1977 the singles Daddy Cool, Sunny,a version of Bobby Hebb, Ma Baker, Belfast. It took these four themes and a first album for Boney M. reached the top of the lists of half of Europe, including England. In this country get their firstnumber one with Rivers of Babylon (1978), an adaptation for dance floors of an old traditional theme of religious content.
Rivers of Babylon sold two million copies, which made it the best sellingsingle to date after Wings Mull of kyntire.
