These lines belong to the poem which gives the name to the movie, and these linesgave stronghold to Nelson Mandela during the time he was in prison; The time when he was a prisoner of the Afrikaners, his own people. Although he was unfairly kept as prisoner for twenty-seven years,he did not keep angry against his captors; moreover, when he obtained the liberty and he won the first democratic elections, he fought in favor of the South Africans and the Afrikaners, the equality,and against the poorness.

Mandela used the World rugby championship to inspire the whole country, to give them something to feel proud. He wanted that the Springboks won the world cup for thispurpose. He wanted that the people forgot their differences, and forgive the past. He said “we have to surprise them with compassion, with restraint, and generosity” referring to the Afrikaners whoseinvade South Africa and trade the South Africans as slaves.
And I agree with Mandela’s thought, we need to forgive the pain who somebody caused to us; because if we pay the pain with pain, we willmake a circle without end. And there had been some people who have been thinking in a peaceful world, one of them was Gandhi who said “An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind” this is a logicalway of thinking because the vengeance is something that you cannot stop.

Although the Springboks were a bad rugby team, they used the inspiration given by the president and the team leader towin the World Cup; and this is a good representation that almost everybody needs a leader who gives confidence, inspire brave, or just think for them. Furthermore, leaders have to be worry about thepeople they lead, and they must have a good purpose, something which everybody agree, or the people who he leads would be upset, or disappointed, and that means problems in a group.
