PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Scholar-in-Residence/Curator, Kupferberg Holocaust Center and Archives,
Queensborough Community College/City University of New York, 2005-to present
Projects include:
*Research, writing and production of Holocaust related exhibits and catalogues
Rabbi Emeritus,Conservative Synagogue of Jamaica Estates, NY – 1974-2004
*Initiated and led Jewish Museum of New York educational tours to Brazil and
Argentina as the scholar-in-residence
*Founding member, Advisory Committee, Queens College Black-Jewish People to
People Project
*Directed the Jewish Laymen’s Institute, an annual study retreat for fourteen
congregations in Queens
*Conceived and organized aninter-congregational adult education project on
Judaism, the Jewish family and Jewish liturgy
*Directed and created resource materials for a yearly congregational study weekend
at Camp Isabella Freedman, the UJA Retreat Center
*Designed and delivered adult education programs in innovative formats (for
example, Genesis using the Bill Moyers TV series), and SOS-“Save Our Scrolls,” and
educational and fundraising campaign
*Developed “Got Guilt,” and award winning High Holidays outreach to the
unaffiliated
*Mentored and taught senior rabbinical students at the Jewish Theological Seminary
of America
*Designed award-winning congregational bulletin emphasizing educational contents
*Pioneered pastoral visits to Havana, Cuba Jewish community, teaching and
counseling in Spanish
Director, B’nai B’rith Center andHillel Foundation, Caracas, Venezuela, 1967-1974
Projects included:
*Founded and led the first Hillel Foundation, the Jewish college youth
organization, in Latin America
*Generated educational programs for lodges, including lecture series and exhibits
*Executive Secretary, Judeo-Catholic Relations Committee, Human Rights
Council, Caracas
*Served as educational consultant and lecturer toleadership of B’nai B’rith
Caribbean District 23, visiting Mexico, Panama, Guatemala, Colombia, Puerto Rico,
and Curacao.
*Initiated anti-defamation and interfaith activities and pro-Israel programs with
Venezuelan leaders

*Spearheaded restoration of historic Jewish cemeteries in Coro, Venezuela and
Bridgeport, Barbados
