When we compared ourselves with a federal state of the United States we have more similarities than differences, and at the same time, we have ouradvantages. Like a state of the United States, we have our flag, shield, freedom to choose our governor, own laws, anthem and we even used the same currency. What differentiates us from a state is theexclusion of: the presidential vote, territorial incorporation, representation of voice and vote in the federal congress and the tax on the federal rent. An advantage that can help us be identifiedworld-wide is the international representation in sports. But the most significant difference mentioned, is the representation about voice and vote in the federal congress of the United States, which is animportant key, since it allows us to plead for the laws, benefits and allocations of money. Generally, if we had that power of representation of voice and vote in the federal congress we wouldimmediately stop being a colony and become a state. But, at the moment it does not concern whichever similarities and advantages we have, we do not approve if making Puerto Rico a state of the United States noran independent country.
