Abstract:
The effects of sound and music on plants have been a fascinating subject and many gardeners have been studying these effects over the years. Many people have claimed the effects of musicon plants.
Problem:
What effect does music have on plant growth?
Research:
Many experiments have been done to see whether music affects plant growth. Does music help or slow down plantgrowth? This experiment will give us an understanding on whether or not music affects plant growth. Using rock music and more soothing music to test plant growth, the experiment will show how musicaffects plant growth.
Hypothesis:
Soothing music will help the plant grow properly and rock music will hinder its growth.
Materials:
1. Three of the same plant- one will be exposed to nomusic
2. Rock Music CD
3. Classical (soothing) Music
4. Stereo for both plants exposed to music
Procedure:
Three plants were taken and labeled differently. One will be exposed toclassical music, the other to rock music and the other to no music at all. They were placed in separate rooms. Watering them daily, and after one week recording your results.
Observations:
1. Theplants were growing slowly and the music did kind of affect the development of each plant, but we decided to change that because of how long it was taking for the plants to grow so we went and boughtfully developed ones.
2. Observing that the plant exposed to rock music was growing more slowly than the one exposed to soothing music was very impressing. The one exposed to classical music was thesame as the one exposed to no music.
3.On the weekdays music was put for the plants for exactly 1hour and 30 minutes, but on the weekends 3 hours of music because just like humans on the weekdays uskids have kind of a limited time because of school and everything, but on the weekends we have more free time so we are doing that with the plants.
