Unidad 2. How to ask for things /Cómo pedir cosas
Introducción a la unidad
In this unit youwill learn one of the most important things in another language, how to ask for things. If you
work in tourism, you can offer help more effectively, if you are traveling you can ask for help, or maybe you
meet someone who speaks English and you just want to know more about them. You will also learn how to give
orders and instructions. Do you realize that giving directions is giving instructions?Or explaining how to cook a
certain dish?
Did you that many people speak English even if their native language is different? You may meet someone from
Germany that speaks English. You can speak to him in English if he does not speak Spanish and you do not speak
German.
At first, the topics in this unit may not seem related. What you will do is learn various components and then put
them alltogether. First you will review phrasal verbs as they are very important. As well, you will be using them
when you learn how to give orders. Then you will learn about pronouns and how they are used. After you know
how to use pronouns, you will use them to give orders. Then you will learn about modal words in order to use
them to ask for things. As you can see, you will learn a lot in this unit!En esta unidad vas a aprender una de las cosas más importantes: cómo pedir cosas. Si trabajas en turismo
puedes ofrecer ayuda de mejor manera, si estás viajando puedes pedir ayuda, o a lo mejor conozcas a alguien
que habla inglés y te interesa conocerlo mejor.
También vas a aprender cómo dar órdenes e instrucciones. ¿Estás consciente de que cuando das información o
explicas cómo preparar unplatillo estás dando instrucciones?
¿Sabías que hay mucha gente que habla el inglés aunque no sea su lengua materna? Podrías conocer a un
alemán que hable inglés. Esto es bueno, porque podrías hablar con él en inglés aunque no sepa español ni tu
alemán.
Al principio, puede parecer que los temas en esta unidad no están relacionados. Sin embargo, vas a aprender
varios elementos y luego losrelacionarás.
Primero, vas a repasar los verbos compuestos ya que son muy importantes. Vas a usarlos cuando aprendas
cómo dar instrucciones. Luego vas a aprender acerca de los pronombres y cómo usarlos. Una vez que sepas
esto, podrás usarlos cuando des órdenes. Para terminar, vas a aprender las palabras modales y podrás usarlas
para pedir cosas.
