Machu Picchu, "The City of the Incas" on the Navel of the World, Cuzco.
Machu Picchu becomes a mystery land of posibilities as the sun rises strategically 7,970 feet above sea level. On a wonderfulpanorama of dense vegetation and a dramatic view of the Andes in Peru; Machu Picchu is blanketed by a thick jungle and surrounded by mountainous peaks. It attracts architects, engineers, historians,hikers, adventurers, globetrotters, archaeologists, photographers, tourists and families that visit this magical citadel every day. To get there I followed the Inca Trail which is a five day trailalong incas ruins weathered in time, clouds forests, and alpine trundra. The path alternates between rocks, vegetation, dirt and mud depending on the weather. Your guide directs you through overgrownpaths along steep hillsides in which you must go single file through to fit. As you reach the top of hillsides you are able to look down upon underlying valleys, mountian peaks, vegetation, andindigenous trees with shades of green and yellow that grow no taller than 20 feet. On the fifth day I realized that the Incas were genious that used every space of land for agricultural purposes as gazedupon the stratified terraces surrounding the city of Machu Picchu. The entrance into Machu Picchu was through Intipunku "Door of the Sun". This gateway consists of steep steps staggered in stone andconstructions that suggest it was a kind of customs in the control of people entering and leaving the city. Through this doorway and under the dawn of that beautiful morning, my pupils reflected thesunlight illuminating the majestic figure of the City of the Incas for the first time in my life. The view is breathtaking. I was contemplating for almost an hour its beauty trying to take the best photos,to say that I was there. Yes! it was in the northwest of Cuzco, in the province of Urubamba.
