THE COOKIES
One day, while my friend and I were traveling through Germany, we were very hungry but we didn't have a lot of money. We decided to stop at a village market to get a few groceries. Ichose some cookies and went to the front counter to pay. Near the counter I saw some packaged cookies in a large bin. They looked good and were a lot cheaper than the ones I had in my hand, so I tookthem instead.
We left the store and looked for a place where we could eat. We found a quiet place under a tree and we ate our sandwiches first, and then the cookies. We thought they were great.
"Let'sget these again," I said. "They're cheap and they really taste good."
My friend can read some German, but I can't, so I gave her the package so she could look for the brand name. She looked at it andthen started to laugh.
"Why are you laughing?" I asked.
"Because they're dog biscuits!" she said.

A pharmacist is a person who studies and knows about different kinds of medicine. Pharmacistsstudy in college and then take a state test to get a license. A pharmacy is a store that sells medicine. In the United States, we often call those stores drugstores. Drugstores also sell a lot of otherthings, like shampoo, crackers, combs, magazines, candy, etc. The part of the drugstore that sells medicine is usually under a sign that says Pharmacy.
There are two kinds of medications in theUnited States. One kind of medicine is over the counter or OTC. You can just go into a drugstore and buy it. However, you have to read the label carefully. The label is in small print and uses a lot ofvocabulary, but it has important information. Most OTC medicine labels include information like indications, directions, warnings and drug interaction precautions
The other kind of medication isprescription medication. If you want to buy this medicine, you need a doctor's prescription. You take the prescription to the pharmacy. The pharmacist fills the prescription.
