A museum in Mexico is part of the culturalbaggage from the nineteenth century following communities leading to the development, preservation of identity and culture. The museums contain all the potential opportunities for the development andproduction of knowledge.
The International Council of Museums (ICOM) defines museum as "permanent institutions, non-profit, in the service of societies and theirs development, open to the public andconducting research on material evidence of people and their environment, acquired, preserved , communicated and especially exposed for study, education and enjoyment. "
A museum is the interactionbetween society and their cultural heritage. In Mexico the museums were classified into a museum, gallery, botanical garden, zoo, aquarium, and planetarium.
The museum scheme is extensive and hassuffered a series of transformations. In 2012 was celebrated the 187th anniversary of the museums in Mexico. The first inaugurated by the first President Guadalupe Victoria (1825). At this time carry out themajor project creating a space for the memory of the past, collecting archaeological pieces, boutorini code, Hernan Cortes’flag, and relics of the Independence’ War of Mexico. Museums are housed inhuge buildings of colonial-baroque style architecture. During the Porfiriato (1876-1911) the museums are transformed into a established institution. They are then created the Natural History Museum andthe Museum of Geology and Archaeology, History and Ethnography. In the early the twentieth century stared a boom in museums in Mexico.
