THE CREATION
In the Greek and Hebrew account of creation there are similarities and differences one finds on how the world began. Although the things they believe in are not the same for the Greekbelieve in different gods and the Hebrew belief in only one mighty God who they call Jehovah, as we examine both we can see relations between the events that occur and the days in which these eventsoccur in both cultures.
In both the Greek and the Hebrew account of how the world began before the first day the Greeks say that the world was in chaos and it was dark. The Hebrew says that earth wasshapeless and that there was void and darkness. Here we can see that in both cultures they believe that before the world was ever created there was just chaos and darkness. In the Greeks account ofevents it mentions that on the second day Erebus, an immortal being, joins with his sister Night this was how they created day and night and they also created tears or water and rain. The Greeks alsosay that on the second day Light and Eros are dancing on a spiral to create another immortal being called Gaea, the earth goddess. These are some of the similarities between the stories of the creation of these two different cultures.
Although there are many similarities inboth of the stories there are also many differences. In the Greeks first day Eros, the god of love, brought order to the world and there was heat (this heat my resent the creation of the sun). This...
