My Internship. Apr Energy

APR Energy, founded on August 2011, offers temporary power solutions on a fast-track basis to government and industrial customers around the globe. Contracts with customers are typically for a period of 12 months to 3 years, during which time APR Energy provides all installation, operation and maintenance services for the project as a whole. Currently with sixteen energy plants around the globeand revenues of more than 1 billion dollars, APR energy is one of the leading companies in the temporary energy industry sector.
APR’s fast-track company ideology implies an efficient and dynamic logistics department. When I joined this department, old boss, Yann Gervile-Reache explained that this experience was going to be a challenge, and what a challenge it has been. My experience at APRlogistics within fleet department has been an amazing opportunity to learn how to create all the proper documentation, commercial invoices, B/L, and customs procedures that international commerce requires. Also, I have being able to learn the way the corporate world works in which there is a protocol for every corporate request. My internship has been constantly challenging my knowledge as well as myskills. During this time, I had the responsibility to ship goods all around the globe. We encountered a number of problems that were later solved due to the cooperation of our team within the company. This experience taught me about teamwork and the importance of communication within the work place. A couple of weeks ago, I got promoted to fleet analysis and this promotion implies that I have beingassigned the task of gathering and analyzing information. This task has forced me to be in constant
Communication with our hubs as well as with our energy plants all around the globe. Communicating with the APR energy plants has allowed me to experience first hand a variety of cultures and expose myself to a number of new situations. For instance, one challenge has been talking with thetransformers supplier in China, who’s time schedule is completely opposite from us. All of this experience has helped me to be able to achieve my five learning objectives. I believe I am going to be able to meet all of the objectives because my job applies directly to the goals that I proposed at the beginning of the semester. The goals that I proposed were: Learn and improve the shipment set-upefficiency & the coordination of freight forwarders, learn how track and trace shipments, learn to create and adjust the proper shipment documentation, participate and increase the efficiency of daily conference calls with other key project members and last learn to create reports to senior management. Talking about my first objective, learn and improve the shipment set-up efficiency & the coordination offreight forwarders, I can say I have accomplished this goal. I was able to create a sheet called “New vendor information” that allowed us to on a fast basis to gather all the important information required for a new project. In this document basically we gather all the information of our contac in the country of destiny. This sheet also allowed us to decrease our time response. My secondobjective, learn how track and trace shipments, was achieved as well, I had the opportunities to coordinates small DHL shipments all around the globe and I had to report to certain people the status of the shipments. One example of this job was when we send two radios to Senegal and there was a problem in customs so I had to contact our person in Senegal so he could get it resolved. Adding to this I wantto mention that I also finish the creation of the logistics KPI. This indicator allow us to track how efficient we have being in the logistics department. My third goal, learn to create and adjust the proper shipment documentation, was achieved as well as my past two objectives.
