Why prisons don’t work

In this article Wilbert Rideau tells the truth behind prisons stories, on how the prison population rarely get out and start new. This is because the law is gettingtougher and no type of rehabilitation whatsoever is being given to the inmates. It’s evident that the current system isn’t working, leaving inmates ignorant and useless to society. Why aren’t wetreating inmates the rights way, so that they wont come back in? The system we live in doesn’t want this to happen because private prisons will lose money because of the reduction in population. Prison hasan important role in society.
It is a very traumatic experience, spending time in jail. A whole new social and cultural structure, with very little credibility and regard to human life. It shouldbe a one time deal, not a way of life. We are promoting a criminal culture, with very little regard towards human values, right and life. This is what inmates show when released from jail, raisingchance of going back in very little time.
Rehabilitation is the right and most sensible thing to do, if we just think a little and be sensible and think what is good for society to nourish and grow. Itshould not be duded or questioned. Everyone changes with time, with the right guidance, personal and up-close specified step-by-step program. Hire, train and pay well people to do this job the rightway, just as the government should be doing with the education system and with the vessels of knowledge, teachers and professors.
We as responsible, aware and socially active citizens should bepublicly proposing or demanding that programs like this started showing up. Demanding the internal restructure of our justice and penal system, with highly specialized and highly trained professionals.The people high in social position don’t want this to happen, because capital movement will start to go down and this is a society in which people do practically anything to guard their economical...
