1. The municipality we have chosen is San Jose de Apartadó, the research made in this place of our department has shown the need of quality education forchildren, youth and adults, to make the municipality not just a “peace community” but a better place to live, work and make less the impact of terrorist groups like FARC or ELN.

2. Apartadó is a town and municipality in the Antioquia Department, Colombia. It is located near the atlantic ocean in the Gulf of Urabá, the economy is based in Bananas and Plantain. The temperature is about 30 degreesCelsius and the relative humidity is above 80% all year round. It is also located in a region. Inhabitants: 134572. it is located in the northwest of the Department of Antioquia, the total area of the municipality is of 600 Km2, The Rest, San Jose of Apartadó, Churidó and Port Girón, in addition it possesses 48 paths. The population in the rural area projected 2009 belongs 21.067 inhabitants and inthe head-board of 127.678 inhabitants, for a total of the population projected according to DANE for 2009 of 148.745 inhabitants, which turns Apartadó into the principal center filled with Urabá and shelters as floating population that of major resources.
San Jose de Apartadó is a small town in the northwest of Colombia, near the gulf of Uraba. Farmers settled there in the 1960s and 70s and sincethen the community has participated in cooperative agricultural and communal living.
In March of 1997, the Community responded to the escalating violence and extrajudicial killings of community leaders by declaring themselves a Peace Community, with the support of the region's Catholic Bishop, and committing to:
* Farm in cooperative work groups
* Denounce the injustice and impunity of warcrimes
* Not participate in the war in direct or indirect form, nor carry weapons
* Not manipulate or give information to any of the parties involved in armed conflict
The Peace Community has a special role among the diverse communities throughout Colombia that nonviolently resist political and physical violence. More than others, the community has staked its survival on the conscience ofthe international community by being visible and seeking expressions of conscience when threats or attacks occur. Since its founding, the community has suffered over 160 deaths.
On February 21, 2005, a community founder and 7 other San Jose peace community members were brutally massacred, according to witnesses from the community, by army soldiers. Since that time, the presence of both military andparamilitary in the area has risen and the need for international support and attention has become increasingly critical.
