Imagine life without the inventions which make our lives easy. Here at Science and You we carried out an office survey to find out which gadgets our staff rely on. Their topfive were: email, USB memory sticks, Bluetooth headphones, coffee makers and tea bags! Have you ever thought about what inventions or discoveries you would miss the most? What would happen if medicines,contact lenses and trains disappeared? If you have any ideas, please post your comments.

I believe that if the television hadn´t been invented, the revolution in audio-visualtechnologies wouldn´t have taken off. Television has enabled us to witness historical moments, like the landing on the moon, and cultural events such as the Olympics. If Logie Baird hadn´t invented the “box”, wewould never have been able to see these images. I sometimes wish I didn´t have a TV because of its influence on my children. Watching television means they don´t have time for other activities.NATSUMI, JAPAN:
I wish that money would disappear. I wouldn´t miss it at all! Today, money is the origin of most conflicts in our societies. If money didn´t exist, many of our problems would be solved.If it disappeared, there would be fewer wars and less disagreement. If we didn´t use money, we would have to exchange goods and services to obtain food and housing or to cover our other needs. Wewouldn´t be no cash in it. Of course, for banks and insurance companies, the disappearance of money would be disastrous.

I´d like to point out that if electric power hadn´t been invented,our lives would be completely different. Everything we do today, from making coffee to doing the washing requires electricity. Imagine what would happen in an office if there was no electricity fortwenty-four hours.
