Reflective Teaching in ELT
In the broad field of ELT, a big range of concepts may beconsidered to put
into practice if teacher desires are focused on successful results, which means
a complete understanding from the students. But there is a very interesting method thatenriches the teacher in his/her language classroom. It is the Reflective teaching. Reflective teaching deals meanly with an inward look from the teacher to his/her own process of transmitting knowledge tothe learners, in other words, it is a self evaluation of how the teacher is managing his/her teaching, and the aspects to improve in order to be adequate for the students and for his/herself. Up next,throughout this essay, I will express why reflective teaching is a method that helps teachers improve their teaching by looking their innermost attitudes and aptitudes.
Reflectiveteaching, in fact, implies to follow some points that facilitate the efficacy of this method. As every important activity that anybody performs, it also has some purposes, which are: To expand teacher’sunderstanding of the teaching-learning process, repertoire of strategic options as second language teaching, and to enhance the opportunities that he/she can provide to his/her students. These purposesare obtained by attaining activities that deal with gathering information about a language course and examine in detail all concepts. The teacher must clarify every aspect unclear, and as soon as all isclear, he/she can share it with a colleague or any interested person in this process. In this way, the purpose will be easily attained, and the teacher will be leading to the path of reflectiveteaching.
