The Rules of Attraction

1983. From a novel or play of literary merit, select an important character who is a villain. Then, in awell-organized essay, analyze the nature of the character's villainy and show how it enhances meaning in the work. Do not merely summarize the plot.

The book The Rules of attractions main most apparentvillain would be Sean. Sean is a cruel, rich kid that only looks for things that are in his best interest, even if that means stepping over other people’s feelings. Sean is the perfect example as forthe theme of the book, which would be love that doesn’t belong, because threw out the novel love plays the important role in the life of 3 main characters, Sean, Lauren and Paul.
Sean was introducedin the begging of the book as a rich college student that sells drugs and also abuses them. During the novel he is only interested in selling he’s drugs and having sex with many women. During the novelwe are also introduced to other two main characters which are Paul and Lauren; the way that Sean treats this two characters are key to understanding why this Sean is considered a villain.
Paul acollege student, he is a bisexual who abuses drugs. He first meets Sean in one of the many college parties and immediately falls in love, because Sean is charming and he has a bad boy attitude and asecretive life that got him interested. Sean and Paul hang out in some parts of the book and all do Sean always looked for him to sell him drugs, Paul would think that he sent him mixed signals and inone part of the book Sean considered having sexual relations with this person but he never did anything. Paul was always looking to hang out with him but Sean would lie to him and in many cases use himfor his own benefit, to get or to sell drugs.
Lauren is another college student; she is presented as a virgin at the begging of the book who wants to lose her virginity. She shows mixed feelings...
