Switzerland: Cultural and Economical Analysis

When I hear about Switzerland many things and places come to my head. Swiss cheese, Swiss army knifes, Swiss chocolate, and off course Swiss watchesare some of many things that Switzerland can offer to the world. And why not talk about Swiss banks which are recognized worldwide for their sophisticated banking services. Located in central Europe,protected by the Alps, Switzerland is a country with a very stable economy and government which makes it very attractive for foreign investment. But first let’s take a look at Switzerland as a wholeand study their culture in order to understand it. Switzerland area size is 41,290 square kilometers, which is about twice the size of New Jersey and is boarder by France on the west, Germany on thenorth, Austria and Liechtenstein on the east, and Italy on the south. Its climate is mostly temperate but varies throughout and depends on the changes of altitude. In the winter is usually cold, cloudyand very snowy. But in the summers it is humid and rainy. The terrain in Switzerland is dominated by the Swiss Alps on the south with few plains on the north and massive lakes spread around theirterritory.
Switzerland History dates back to the late13th century. The 1st of August of 1291 the Swiss confederation was created as an alliance from the three main cantons of the region against theHapsburg family. Later in 1499 the Swiss Confederation was declared independent fro the Holy Roman Empire. In 1789 the French Revolution conquered the Swiss territory and adopts the name of HelveticRepublic. In 1849 Switzerland adopts the use of a federal constitution and in 1920 joined the League of Nations. Switzerland remained neutral during World War I and World War II.

Switzerland has apopulation of around 7.5 mill people. The main ethnic group is the Germans with 65% of the population. Followed by French with 18%, the Italians with 10%, and the Romanics with 1% of the population....
