The Keyboard of a Computer
A common keyboard is divided in the following sections:
A. The Typewriter key area. A main section specially used for entering most of your data. It is used to enteralphanumeric texts in the same way you use a typewriter. This important section has keys as: enter, tab, shift, etc.
B. The numeric keypad. It is located on the right side. These keys ordinarilyhave two functions: numeric or the cursor control.
C. The function keys. The specific functions of these keys are dependent on the applications software that you are running.
D. The cursorcontrol keys. You must always check the position of the cursor before you press a key to move it. You must use the direction keys to move the cursor to the left or right without deleting any characters.Direction keys move the cursor right, left, up, and down. They never affect the characters that are displayed. Programs sometimes ignore these keys or do not use them. The spacebar moves the cursor tothe right. Use the backspace key to correct typing mistakes on the current line. The backspace key deletes characters as it moves the cursor to the left.
