The present essay of investigation evaluates the function ofmicrowave ovens and the applicability that can have in a laboratory of mechanical soil, to obtain the content of humidity in fine aggregates. To obtain thecontent of humidity in fine aggregates the main objective is to determine the reliability in the results obtained, and the correlation that the same can have. With the results provided do to the traditional technique to make use of the conventional oven, which is use like a comparative pattern in the samples made. This essay was accomplished by preparing samples of fine aggregates extracted from the lake of Maracaibo, with contents of humidity that allowed homogeneityand facility to work. It was determined the time of dryness in the microwave oven for a representative sample, immediately after obtaining the humidity fromeach of the samples as the conventional oven like in the microwave oven in a simultaneous form. After the results were obtain and by using the statisticstools it was proceeded to evaluate the reliability and correlation of the both.
This way it was proven the high reliability in the drying technique, byobserving a minimum variability from the results and outstanding similarities from the values obtain with the traditional technique.
Analyzing the results in thesamples made it was proved the applicability in the microwave ovens in the laboratory of mechanical soil.
