Since the time has passed, the dance and music has grown in different aspects. One of those aspect is the origin way of dance the rock and roll. The term "rock and roll" was originallya nautical term that has been used by sailors for centuries. Refers to "rock" (movement back and forth) and "roll" (sideways movement) of a ship. The expression can be found in English literaturedating back to the seventeenth century, always referred to boats and ships. The term slipped into black spiritual music in the nineteenth century, but with a religious significance, and was firstrecorded in computerized phonograph in 1916, a gospel recording label in the Little Wonder called The Camp Meeting Jubilee.
Before 1947, the only people who used to talk about "rocking" were black gospelsingers. "Rocking" was a term used by African Americans to name the "possession" they experienced in certain religious events, and the term also referred to the powerful rhythm was in the music thataccompanied such religious experience. This music was so powerful and popular that almost every African-American artist drew a record of this new genre. Check the music I needed was a name. R & B(coined in 1949) was a term too vague, because R & B was a category that included all forms of black music except jazz and gospel. Any other style was considered R & B. But this music "rocking" was new andrevolutionary, so I needed a new name, so the disc jockeys, led by one of Cleveland named Alan Freed began calling him "rock and roll." This happened in 1951 and many DJ's used that term, which wasalso used to market the music to a wider audience.
