School Violence
Cause an Effect

Over the past decade we have heard about several cases of school violence. We may think most of these cases are isolated or most of them are related to thirdworld countries. However, the truth is that cases of school violence, specifically bullying, can take place at any school, anywhere in the globe, and most of the time based on the same characteristics.After doing some research and reviewing some case studies about this topic I conclude there are three main reasons that may lead to school bullying. Following I will explain why I strongly believe weneed to put special attention and work in creating the appropriate socio emotional environment for our kids, delivering the necessary school security, reducing the amount of violence the mediatransmits and providing the appropriate home environment and quality time.
It is well known that kids learn by observation; consequently, the environment that surrounds a kid will be reflected in the kidbehavior. For most of the violent kids it is a common factor to be part of a violent home environment as well as the neighborhood that surround them, which most of the time is related to conflictivesocio economic conditions. How parents or role models behave or reacts to an event will dramatically influence the kid personality.
The second major factor is violence in the media. Nowadays ourchildren are mostly exposed to the media thru technology which is being served in different colors and flavors; we have from TV ads, shows and cartoons to movies, computer games, music videos and videogames. All the previously mentioned sources instead of transmitting valuable material to our kids or monitor the quality of information being showed, emits violent scenes that will subliminallybuild the framework by which our kids will perceive and respond to specific stimuli (cognitive schemata).Statistically, Media Violence Exposure (MVE) increases the risk of physical aggressive behavior....
