- Subject + finite form of tobe+ Past participle
- The subject of the active sentence becomes the object of the passive sentence
- The most common reporting verbs are: Said, think, consider, believe, assume
- “Johnstole my bike”( My bike was thought to be stolen by John
Two ways:
1- Subject+ is/was/are/were (To Be)+Past participle+ infinitive:
The world was thought to be flat by medieval people2- It+ is/was+ past participle+ that+ subject phrase:
It was thought that the world was flat
