1. Why is the WBS an important project tool?
Many key project management documents need the WBS as input. Thismeans that the quality of these documents rests in part on the quality of your WBS.
The WBS serves as an important communication tool between the project manager and the stakeholders of theproject, such as the sponsor, the customers, and the internal and external suppliers. Along with the scope statement, it is the source for defining what needs to be done on the project.

2. What isa deliverable and why is it important that your WBS be deliverable oriented?
A deliverable is any unique and verifiable product, result, or capability. The WBS should be deliverable orientedbecause it makes it easier to track work back to the scope statement.

3. What are the differences between a to-do list and a WBS?
The WBS has deliverables; a to-do list items are what you listat the start of the day to organize your work for that day. They may represent steps to be taken to perform activity.

4. Why is using consistent naming conventions for your deliverables,activities and milestones important?
Because:
* Every task at every level must have one or more deliverables.
* You are consistent in your naming conventions.
* Your WBS and project2007 task list read coherently so they can be understood as a story of how the project will unfold.

5. How do you know you have found the appropriate level of detail in your WBS? Why isfinding the right level of detail important?
The WBS should have neither too little detail nor too much, a logical structure with an appropriate level of detail is key to tracking work throughout theproject.
The importance of finding the right level of details is to create enough checkpoints for monitoring and controlling the progress of the project and to enable estimating and scheduling.
