Billy the kid, by William Golding is a coming age of story. A coming age of story means that one or more characters have a big change in their life, this changetransform the character into innocence of life or inexperience to experience. During the story of “Billy the kid”, a boy called “Billy” is hit by his classmates and he has a change from innocence of lifeto experience.
Billy was a really innocent kid, he believed everything his mom said to him, and he always thought that what she said was right and true. “I was used to being adored, for I was anattractive child”; “My mother would declare that I “had eyes like cornflowers and hair like a field of ripe corn” ”. Billy had never ever gone to school, but he knew that school would bring him fights,he yearned to be victorious. Billy narrowed his interest in school to the quarter of an hour between eleven and fifteen minutes past, it was break time; during break time he lived up his expectations,he and the kids played games and fight between the desks every day; Billy was chunky and zestful and enjoyed hurting people during fights, he exulted victory and he thought his adversaries enjoy itand were glad too. With all this quotations we can anticipate that something really big is about to happen and maybe it will change the things.
Furthermore during one school day, Billy´s classroomchildren such as the boys and the girls got against him, Billy could only hit one boy afterwards he got rounded by the semicircle made up of the boys and “The screams of the girls went needle sharp”.All the boys were running in the alley, piling trough the narrow entry, erupting into the street; Billy stood alone he also affronted shame and frustration took command of his muscles and lungs. He´svoice rose in sustained howl, he soon recognized that he had been a looser. He went running to his house, sobbing and crying as soon as he arrived his mother asked to him what has happened he said...
